Just months after taking home the People's Choice Country Award for new artist and new artist song, and just days after landing six Grammy nominations, country artist Shaboozey has a new title: halftime performer.
The Detroit Lions announced Sunday the Nigerian-American artist will be the headliner of their halftime show when they take on the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day.
Shaboozey is best known for his hit single "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," which catapulted him into mainstream popularity. Spotify named the song one of its Global Top 5 Songs of the Summer in August, along with the likes of "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter and "Not Like Us" by Kendrick Lamar, among others.
That song alone garnered Shaboozey Grammy nominations for best new artist, song of the year, best country solo performance and best country song. The artist was also featured on "Spaghetti" and "Sweet Honey Buckiin'," from Beyoncé's highly acclaimed album "Cowboy Carter."

Shaboozey reaches huge milestones in breakout year
In May 2024, Shaboozey became the first Black male artist to simultaneously top Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts with "A Bar Song (Tipsy)."
Billboard also said the Virginia native is the second Black artist to ever top both charts, with Beyoncé being the first to accomplish this feat for "Texas Hold 'Em."
The 29-year-old's smash hit is also the first single in history to land the top 10 on country, pop, adult pop and rhythmic airplay charts.
Earlier this year, Shaboozey replaced Beyoncé for the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot Country chart, marking the first time in history that two Black artists topped the chart consecutively.
