It's that time of year when crowds flock to various state fairs around the U.S. to enjoy the rides, see the animals, enter into competitions and of course, indulge in deep-fried food heaven.
State fair foods are a steadfast part of American culture, appearing every summer. For many of these foods, oil and deep fryers are a necessity and the stranger they are, the better. Think of the iconic deep-fried Oreos and Twinkies found at nearly every fair and carnival.
